Acetyl Octapeptide-3 (SNAP-8, CAS 868844-74-0): Supplier Guide

Published 2026-07-07·5 min read

Acetyl Octapeptide-3 — INCI Acetyl Octapeptide-3, trade name SNAP-8, CAS 868844-74-0 — is an octapeptide often described as an extended, next-generation relative of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline). It is used in anti-wrinkle products targeting expression lines.

Key specifications

  • CAS No.: 868844-74-0
  • INCI: Acetyl Octapeptide-3
  • Appearance: white to off-white powder (also supplied as a trade solution)
  • Purity: cosmetic grade, HPLC assay on COA
  • Solubility: water-soluble

Typical use levels

As with Argireline, formulators often work from a standardised solution and use it in the water phase, added post-emulsification below 40°C. Target a mild pH and avoid prolonged high heat.

SNAP-8 vs Argireline

SNAP-8 (octapeptide) and Argireline (hexapeptide) share a similar mechanism concept; SNAP-8 is the longer sequence. Many brands feature both, or choose based on their claim strategy and cost. See our companion article comparing the two.
